
Management guru Subroto Bagchi-The High Performance Entrepreneur.
Subroto Bagchi is a renown writer and co-founder of MindTree Consulting. He is a pragmatic and prolific writer in this century. It is very important to allow employees in organizations to be spontaneous. Life is designed to be so. But often distrust creeps in when organizations impose spontaneity and it becomes structured. I call spontaneity the white space time,” says Subroto Bagchi. He should know ,he is the author of the best selling The High Performance Entrepreneur and the recently launched Go Kiss The World(both published by penguin). He explicates that spontaneity is like a burning candle-the yellow flame never singes your but the white zone of the flame definitely does. So it is in the work area-when leaders meet the team in non agenda based space or what he calls the white space time, the likelihood of the impact is much more.
Subroto Bagchi who simply calls himself the Gardener was the co –founder and the former COO of MindTree Consulting.Bagchi gave up the position of authority of a position of service and in his present capacity works at the grassroots levels fostering innovation. And while giving a lecture about how his blind mother, who on her death bed told him not to kiss her but to go and kiss the world, it gave him the idea for this new book. It is aimed at the rural populace who comes to the big cities in search of jobs.
Bagchi in the book has constructed his personal story of constant displacement and how despite a blind mother and a father who had manic depressive psychosis, the family values were strongly imbibed by him and his siblings. Bagchi from a lower division clerk in the industries department of the government of Orissa worked his way up and went on to hold multiple posts in Wipro. He then founded MindTree Consulting.
Bagchi stressed the importance of emotional infrastructure in an organization. He points out that the strength of the middle-class Indian family is the emotional support each individual gets likewise it would be of great value to the organization if it can sense the employee’s emotional state and help him in a time of crisis. Using his own experience, Bagchi has crafted an interesting management book where he eggs the layman to go and kiss the world.
